Christianity
Christianity is the world’s largest religion, that spreads throughout Europe, the Americas, and Southern Africa. Jesus Christ the founder of Christianity is believed to be both human and divine; son of god. Christians believe that Jesus was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected. They also believe that he led a virtuous life and ascended to heaven. Christianity was founded after the death of Jesus. After his death his followers spread the word about his teachings.
Islam
Islam is the second largest religion. Muslims geographic location includes Indonesia, middle east, North Africa. Around 75- 90% are Sunnis and 10-20% are Shiites. Muhammad was the founder of Islam. (570-632 AD) Muslims believe that their purpose in life is to serve to Allah. Allah is their God they worship in their monotheistic religion. They also believe in 5 pillars, testimony, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and pilgrimage.
Hinduism
Hindus are mainly in the location of India and Nepal. With a following of 1.1 billion people.
Their holy book is the Vedas. The thing that separates Hinduism from any other religion is the fact that Hindus believe it’s more of a lifestyle rather than a religion. They believe in reincarnation and did not have a distinct founder. Although Hinduism is the 3rdlargest religion most followers see it as a lifestyle and a way to live life rather than a belief.
Buddhism
Buddhist are located in Southeast Asia, china, Nepal and japan. There’s around 1.2 million Buddhist in the U.S. They believe in the Noble Truths. Which starts off with there is suffering. The second noble truth is attachment to desire is origin of suffering. The third one is there is a cessation of suffering, and lastly, eight hold paths will lead to the cessation of suffering. The founder Siddhartha Gautama is also known as the Buddha.
Judaism
Jews are mainly located in Israel and U.S. Israel is dedicated for Jews. Judaism only has 14-18 million adherents. This is because of tragic events such as the Holocaust. Hitler wanted to kill every single Jew and he was very close to succeeding. Their founder is Abraham and their holy book is the Torah. Jews mainly believe God is one and concerned with the actions of human kind- ethical monotheism.

JAN. 9.19
Today in class we talked about the packet we received yesterday. We did not go over it in class the day before because we didn't have time. But Mr. Schick really helped us out by making us just highlight important details instead of having to read the whole packet. This helped me out because l could really focus on important parts that l need to study rather than reading a whole packet and forgetting the stuff l needed to study. We also talked about the pow wow that ill be attending on Saturday around 1 o clock. Im super excited for the Pow Wow because throughout my brother and neighbor's high school years I've always heard about the Pow Wow. l even used to pass the sign outside the school when l would be going home. Im super excited to witness the dances and rituals they perform. Im also excited to buy some jewelry that is handmade. The assembly we had and Mr. Schick talking about it has made me super excited to attend.

The Four Vedic Texts:
Rig- Veda " Knowledge of the Hymns of praise" 1,017 hymns
Sama- Veda "Knowledge of the Melodies" 1,549 hymns
Yajur- Veda "Knowledge of the Sacrifical Formulas " 1,017 hymns
Atharva- Veda "Knowledge of the Magic Formulas" 730 hymns
"The practice of indulgences was a payment to the Catholic Church that purchased an exemption from punishment for some types of sins"
In other words, if you had sinned some sins can be replaced by money so you can be exempt from your sins.
I think Martin Luther objected to indulgences because the act of paying to get rid of your sins is unfair and not what being sinful is about. The act of a sin should only be able to be forgiven by God. There for being able to pay your way out of it makes more people less careful and commit way more sins.

Monday, 7th
Today in class we got our exam scores. I am a little dissapointed but I know that if I do all my blogs my grade can be average. I am hoping that I can get my overall grade to at least a 86 percent. This is what will help me achieve my goal for an average b. Hopefully we have a bunch of grades in before the end of the quarter so my grade goes up. This is the last unit before semester 2. Overall throughout the year I feel that I have improved tremendously. I started off struggling and now I feel like I can comprehend the class a bit better than first quarter. I am excited to finish this class with a positive outlook on it.
CIA world Facebook vs adherents.com
According to Cia World Factbook:
- Christian 31.4%
- Muslim 23.2%
- unaffiliated 16.4%
- Hindu 15%
- Buddhist 7.1%
- Jewish 0.2%
According to www.adherents.com:
- Christian 33%
- Muslim 21%
- unifilliated 16%
- Hindu 14%
- Buddhist 6%
- Jewish 0.22%
as you can see the percentages are around the same number, although muslims, and christians have the largest differences in numbers. They still are not that different compared to the other percentages. Based off this data it is believed that the order of top religions are still the same on each source.

Thursday 3rd
Today in class we learned about Buddhism and Judaism. This interested me because I have two cousins that are from Israel so I got to learn about their religion. it also interested me because buddhism is very cool and I would like to learn more about it. I find it cool how buddhism is more of a lifestyle than a religion. Instead of believing certain things they live through them. I think more religions should be more of a lifestyle than a belief.

Wednesday 2nd
Today we started a new unit We will be learning about 5 major religions in the world, but today we focused on Christianity and Islam. I learned that there are 2.2 billion people who practice Christianity in the world. This is a lot of people considering there are about 7 billion people on the planet. There are also a lot of Islamic people in the world which make these two religions the largest. I thought it was weird at first that we were going to be learning about religion in human geo class, but then once I started to see how it related it made sense to me.
